THE COMMON GOOD OF AMERICA
Perhaps the common good of America will prevail even though Americans have voted with their eyes wide shut for far too long. Bernie Sanders has answered to the need for moral responsibility in our government and Throughout the World. May Honesty Integrity Wisdom and Truth prevail. Bernie Sanders is the President we needed to reset the moral compass. The female guests on MSNBC did not listen then. They made a big deal about Bernie’s age, called him a communist. They claimed he lacked energy, spunk and said he made them sick. Yet neither Hillary nor Trump could keep up with the daily schedule he follows to this day. They did not listen then, they did not know how. And they still are not listening now.
Eisenhower did not care about liberals or conservatives. He knew what the country needed after a war effort and he set about building it. The result was a great economy, #1 in the world in education, infrastructure and just about every other damn category, including the development of a huge middle class. Our working class. When one salary was enough to support a family, send kids to college, save for retirement, buy a house and two cars.
Then came Nixon and Reagan, bought and paid for by corporate millionaires, and the rest is history. The demise of a once great country. We bottomed out with Trump. Now that Brandon is building us back to the glory years of Eisenhower, the wealthy fear they will have to pay their workers livable wages, along with their fair share of taxes. Taxes which they have avoided for far too long. Our remaining obstructions are the courts and judges, SCOTUS included, they have bought and paid for along the way, both state and federal.
Can we turn the ship of state back on course, back on the path to greatness once again? The voters will have to answer that question on November 4, 2024. Yes, it really is that simple. That is, if we can keep our Republic until that date.
One more thought. Do you remember who the candidates were on both on both sides, Republican and Democratic, who vied for the 2016 and 2020 Presidential nominations? Have you kept track of what they’ve done since losing the nomination? Every time I checked the news, Bernie did not stop working for us, appearing on current news interview shows, posting on Facebook and Twitter, having town halls, speaking before organizations, joining picket lines, fighting in the Senate for us. Bernie is doing today what he began doing in the 1960s, fighting for us the people, fighting for humanity, fighting for human rights. Bernie even continues to fight for those MSNBC women who trashed him, politicians like John Lewis and Jim Clyburn who trashed him, Republicans who lied about and trashed him, those who can’t vote and the people of the world.
Bernie, Bernie Sanders
Look out on a summer’s day
With eyes that know the darkness that awaits
No one gets to heaven if they close the gates
Catch the breeze and the winter chills
In colors on the snowy, linen land
And the MSNBC women with all their ills
Destroyed the roses and the daffodils
What you tried to say was lost
They wanted a woman president at any cost
They would not listen, they did not know how
Perhaps they'll listen now
They did not care if she was fair or kind
Or pure and clean as Melania Trump
As long as there was no dangling genitalia
They would support and vote for a frump
The issues of the day to them did not matter
Caught up in a drunken frenzy of spatter
Now, I understand, what you tried to say to me
How you suffered for your sanity and tried to set us free
Like the strangers that you've met, Bernie,
You cared about ragged men in ragged clothes
They would not listen, they did not know how
Perhaps they'll listen now
Colors changing hue
Morning fields of amber grain
Weathered faces lined in pain
Are soothed beneath Bernie’s loving hand
The silver thorn of the bloody rose
Lie crushed and broken on the virgin snow
They would not listen, they're not listening still
Perhaps they never will
