THE GOOD THING ABOUT SCIENCE

Here is something I posted three years ago. Facebook just reminded me about it. I read it, and although it pertains to that time, I believe the message is worth repeating in consideration of the 2024 Election. What do you think?

“THE GOOD THING ABOUT SCIENCE IS THAT IT’S TRUE WHETHER OR NOT YOU BELIEVE IN IT.” Neil deGrasse Tyson

Those who post non-mask comments are really inconsiderate. They don’t have any current scientific experience on the front lines today and base their dangerous conclusions on what they learned a year ago or more. Is it that hard to understand that we are dealing with a “novel coronavirus?” That means “new,” a disease doctors and scientists have never seen before. They are learning as they go, some of which is horrendous, giving us the best advice they can, which can change as they gain more and more experience with COVID-19. It can lead to a long, excruciating death I would not wish upon my worst enemy and definitely no child.

It irks me that so called arm chair faux rocket scientists are claiming to know all about COCID-19 because they had the flu in 2015 or 2010 or worked for/with OSHA in the past or once served on a submarine. What is it about the term “new” they find so hard to understand? They could care less if you and your child(ren) live or die as long as they get to do whatever the hell they want and get notoriety. That is so unAmerican and unCanadian, yet they believe themselves to be patriots and biblical. I have always told people Canadians are a caring, intelligent people, learning from the mistakes of their American cousins so they don’t repeat those mistakes.

Now I am being told by some to go away, stfu and ignore American idiots. That proves to me there are also Canadian idiots. I wear a mask because I love you, I truly care about you and your children. That’s why I wear a mask when I go out on short errands or someone knocks on my door. I have a sign on my door that says, “Don’t bother to knock if you are not wearing a mask. I will ignore you.” I will not go away and will continue to post in hopes one more person will listen, watch/read my links and live, survive this pandemic, pass on what they have learned. It is real easy to be a caring person instead of an asshole, Canadian or American.

COVID-19 mask guidance in America has evolved — but rejecting science isn't the answer

Aug. 8, 2020, 4:59 AM EDT

As an emergency doctor, I'm noticing a troubling trend among some of my patients when it comes to scientific recommendations around COVID-19. Despite rising deaths around the country and spikes across the South and the West, Americans are not all on the same page. Because the health community's conclusions and findings are adapting as we learn more about the virus, some Americans believe they shouldn't trust the science, on the grounds that "it was wrong before" or that "the advice keeps changing."

SELF EXPLANATORY

I'm fighting coronavirus on the front lines. And yet I've heard the pandemic called a 'hoax.'

As long as regular Americans are openly rejecting the advice of doctors, our problem is going to get much worse before it gets better.
