PRIME DIRECTIVE

Our views about religion depends on where we were born, when we were born, where we grew up and who our mentors and influencers were. Change any of those and our views on religion change along with any religion we might be taught to follow or forced to follow. As a result, my views differ from yours because you did not walk in my moccasins. That does not make your views right and mine wrong, or vice versa.

It is ironic that a people who convinced themselves that they were/are holier than others because only their religion is the true religion, have nothing they consider sacred beyond a collection of fables. For me, that is typical of barbarians which always brings to mind the well researched history, “We Were Not The Savages” by Daniel N. Paul.

In the known universe, it is sad that the Europeans were not advanced enough, intelligent enough, and less arrogantly influenced by their religious beliefs so that they, too, would have protected the natural development of indigenous populations. Instead, their religion allowed the rationalization that any people who did not believe as they believed were inherently inferior, less human, more akin to animals, giving rise to murder and enslavement being common practices. In some cases, moving whole populations into a new form of zoo. That is what happens when a religion is formed and controlled by flawed, unscarred by education pagan individuals. The lack of a Prime Directive is indicative that a supreme being is merely a fable.

I am reminded of the prophetic words of New Jersey’s Senator Cory Booker: “Before you speak to me about your religion, first show it to me in how you treat other people; before you tell me how much you love your God, show me in how much you love all His children; before you preach to me of your passion for your faith, teach me about it through your compassion for your neighbors. In the end, I'm not as interested in what you have to tell or sell as I am in how you choose to live and give.”

“In the fictional universe of Star Trek, the Prime Directive (also known as "Starfleet General Order 1", and the "non-interference directive") is a guiding principle of Starfleet that prohibits its members from interfering with the natural development of alien civilizations. Its stated aim is to protect unprepared civilizations from the danger of starship crews introducing advanced technology, knowledge, and values before they are ready. Since its introduction in the first season of the original Star Trek series, the directive has featured in many Star Trek episodes as part of a moral question over how best to establish diplomatic relations with new alien worlds.

The Prime Directive

The Prime Directive is one of many guidelines for Starfleet's mandate to explore the galaxy and "seek out new life and new civilizations." Although the concept of the Prime Directive has been alluded to and paraphrased by many Star Trek characters during the television series and feature films, the actual directive has never been provided to viewers.[3] The most complete attempts to define the directive have come from non-canonical works and include:

The Prime Directive prohibits Starfleet personnel and spacecraft from interfering in the normal development of any society, and mandates that any Starfleet vessel or crew member is expendable to prevent violation of this rule.

and

As the right of each sentient species to live in accordance with its normal cultural evolution is considered sacred, no Starfleet personnel may interfere with the normal and healthy development of alien life and culture. Such interference includes introducing superior knowledge, strength, or technology to a world whose society is incapable of handling such advantages wisely. Starfleet personnel may not violate this Prime Directive, even to save their lives and/or their ship, unless they are acting to right an earlier violation or an accidental contamination of said culture. This directive takes precedence over any and all other considerations, and carries with it the highest moral obligation.

The Prime Directive was frequently applied to less developed planets which had not yet discovered warp travel or subspace communication technology. The Prime Directive was also sometimes applied to advanced civilizations that already knew of life on other worlds but were protected by empires outside the Federation's jurisdiction. First contact could be made by the Federation with alien worlds that had either discovered warp or were on the verge of it, or with highly advanced civilizations that simply hadn't ventured into space yet. In those cases, the Prime Directive was used as a general policy to not disrupt or interfere with their culture when establishing peaceful diplomatic relations.”

Will it ever be documented how many civilizations were altered or destroyed by European Christianity worldwide? When we make contact with alien civilizations, will Christianity fit in or teach aliens about our Dark Ages and become the catalyst of our demise? Inquiring minds want to know!
