ADOPTION AWARENESS MONTH

“November is Adoption Awareness Month. As an adoptee, the adoption trauma is a part of my life every day, all year long. But this month is a great opportunity to take the time to learn about adoption trauma, listen to adoptee stories, and educate yourself about adoption reform. For all adoptees out there struggling right now, know that you are not alone. Know that you are worthy. Know that you are loved.”

Adoptees who seek more than their ancestry and people who look like them deceive only themselves. We are not understood by our adopted family, friends and workers, so why deceive ourselves into thinking our biological family will understand us? It takes an adoptee to understand an adoptee. Or a person who cares enough to read some of the material out their explaining the trauma of being adopted, like the Primal Wound.

Without such understanding, I fear the adoptee will always remain a conundrum, an inconvenience. Unless one is willing to learn about the trauma, they will never understand what makes an adoptee tick.

“Often, it's the individuals and systems who reject your truth the loudest who actually need to address their own traumatic experiences the most.” ~ MCM

“When you consciously choose to heal toxic family patterns & generational trauma, the ones who want to stay asleep will see you speaking out as betrayal. Know this: it's actually quite the opposite. In setting yourself free, you’re freeing your entire lineage.”
