I DO NOT HATE REPUBLICANS

Why do I hate Republicans? That’s something I never said. I have always had Republican friends. We merely had differing opinions about clothes, music, food, girls, women, politics, religion, cars, but we were still friends. Life would be boring if I was only friendly with those who feel the same as I do about everything. After all, I need them to share fruit salad with so the strawberries don’t go to waste and since they make sausage, someone needs to eat it. 

As a kid, I cheered on Ike and even wore an “I Like Ike” button. Barry Goldwater had class and I really liked my neighbor’s Governor, Nelson Rockefeller, and Rep. & Mayor John Lindsay. Nixon was a cry baby during the ‘50s and got stoned by my cousins in 1958. I thought 1960 would be the end of him. 

I began to “dislike,” not hate, some Republicans when they resurrected Nixon in 1968. Why you ask? I’ll let John Ehrlichman, Counsel and Assistant to Presidént Nixon, explain it to you so those of you unscarred by history don’t accuse me of making it up. And I quote: “The Nixon campaign in 1968, and the Nixon White House after that, had two enemies: the antiwar Left, and black people. You understand what I'm saying? We knew we couldn't make it illegal to be either against the war or black. But by getting the public to associate the hippies with marijuana and blacks with heroin, and then criminalizing both heavily, we could disrupt those communities. We could arrest their leaders, raid their homes, break up their meetings and vilify them, night after night on the evening news. Did we know we were lying about the drugs? Of course we did.”

Talk about bastards. Villains. Scum. Bottom feeders. Cultist blasphēmāres. How many were jailed, lives ruined, families ruined to this day, because of a lust for money and power? To this day, many still have opinions about hippies and blacks that were unfairly formed back then and passed on to their offspring. Formed, or should I say brainwashed, fooled into believing untruths, similar to what FOX News does today. 

Since the 1930s, major corporate interests have been intent on taking over the government to ease restrictive health and safety regulations, laws regarding monopolies, unfair competition and bringing in unfettered capitalism to quench their thirst for greed and power. They felt with Nixon, they could manipulate him and create an atmosphere of unlimited profits to pay themselves more, their workers less, and shifting the tax burden from corporations and the rich to the middle class by making the middle class hate and fear the poor. Then they discovered by shipping manufacturing jobs over seas, they could pay slave wages in third world countries and keep even more. That is why you lost your job. Your job was not taken by immigrants or China. CEOs offered those jobs to China and of course they accepted them. Our CEOs, while our government was being bribed by lobbyists, built China into a world power and all you got out of it was the loss of your job, stagnant wages with the threat of the remaining existing jobs being shipped out, too, and COVID-19. Another fear mongering tactic. My favorite philosopher, George Carlin (R.I.P.), said it way before me.

Then came a group of lesser of two evils, Reagan, Clinton, the Bushes, Obama and Trump bringing us to where we are today. The prison capital of the world. All that happened right under our noses with your blessing. As Mark Twain said, "It's easier to fool people than to convince them that they have been fooled!” Nothing personal.

So what will it take to wake people up to the truth? To realize that hippies and blacks put their clothes on the same way you do? For everybody to pay their fair share of taxes so everyone, including those who don’t make enough to pay taxes, can reap the benefits as I am sure Jesus would want if here today? That is why America was founded. E Pluribus Unum, not in G-d we trust. That is merely a Madison Avenue phrase to sell you more product, rather than a sincere mantra. When did it become “Christian” to judge and hate your neighbors, your brothers and sisters, Biden, Democrats, leftists, liberals, progressives, RINOs and want to murder them in the name of G-d? 

A great Republican President, Theodore Roosevelt, once said, “A great democracy has got to be progressive or it will soon cease to be great or a democracy.” Take a moment and let that sink in while you let global warming destroy our Garden of Eden, that your Bible says G-d created for you to enjoy, and allow your Republic, created by those smarter than you, to slowly sink into the seas of time. One day, when our civilization is at its brink, history will mention you for not doing anything while you still could. 

To again quote that great philosopher, and my favorite: “The planet has been through a lot worse than us. Been through earthquakes, volcanoes, plate tectonics, continental drift, solar flares, sun spots, magnetic storms, the magnetic reversal of the poles … hundreds of thousands of years of bombardment by comets and asteroids and meteors, worldwide floods, tidal waves, worldwide fires, erosion, cosmic rays, recurring ice ages … And we think some plastic bags and some aluminum cans are going to make a difference? The planet isn’t going anywhere. WE are!

The planet’ll be here and we’ll be long gone. Just another failed mutation. Just another closed-end biological mistake. An evolutionary cul-de-sac. The planet’ll shake us off like a bad case of fleas.

The planet will be here for a long, long, LONG time after we’re gone, and it will heal itself, it will cleanse itself, ’cause that’s what it does. It’s a self-correcting system. The air and the water will recover, the earth will be renewed.”

When you pray, do not be like the hypocrites, for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the street corners to be seen by men … but when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your father who is unseen.
