COVID-19

This pandemic has caused millions of thoughts to continually occupy my brain, most of which are based in fear. In full transparency, both my wife and I are over weight seniors. She is diabetic and I have severe COPD caused by 30 years of smoking. The medical community describes us as being in the vulnerable group of people most susceptible to death should we get infected by COVID-19. I sincerely hope you have no idea what that is like, effecting your every thought, because you and your loved ones are not among that group. We, too, would like to once again hug our family and other loved ones.

Did the mainstream media undermine Bernie Sanders because their corporate conglomerate owners and paycheck signers ordered them to? Journalists were more independent during my youth and we counted on them for their expertise, diligent investigative intuitions and desire to uncover the truth. Their owners were just as fastidious. 

It saddens me that independent news reporting has been seemingly outsourced and the rich have taken over the media as propaganda machines skewed toward brain washing, selling products, ideology and increasing their wealth at the expense of the truth. It is even more disgusting that these moguls use Christianity to stir up the masses to violently support their agendas and seemingly have recruited many misguided KKK and white nationalists in the military and police to be their thug brigade.

Before I go further, I feel I must state that I am neither anti-religion nor anti-Christian as previously accused by those unscarred by education. I grew up in a mixed neighborhood of Catholics, Protestants and Jews. I had not encountered “Christian” as a seemingly separate system of beliefs until I moved south. It was commonplace upon meeting someone for the first time to be asked if I was Christian. I respectfully replied that I was Canadian. What I soon learned is that in the southern United States, and in parts of the Midwest, the term Christian has nothing to do with the teachings of Jesus. Many preachers will claim it does when saying so fills their coffers and pays for their mansions, private jets, yachts and exotic automobiles, as well as the rest of their lavish lifestyle. Will someone explain how that is “what Jesus would do?” When it comes to religion and government, I agree with Senator Barry Goldwater, Ronald Reagan, our Founders, etc. concerning the separation of church and state.

I learned is that the term Christian as used in the south is a pseudonym for racists, bigots, white nationalists, white terrorists, rapists, murderers and fake superiority. Or at least that is how it seems. In short, my use of the term Christian does not refer to the millions of faithful followers of the teachings of Jesus, so let’s be clear about that at the outset.

Today’s media hypocrites point fingers at Rupert Murdock, FOX News and its employees as if they were tabloid peddling sensationalists to make a buck. In my opinion, those engaging in muck-raking to appease their corporate owners lack both integrity and believability and are also tabloid peddling sensationalists out to cash their over bloated paychecks.

It is my opinion that all networks and cable “news” outlets are guilty of lying to the people to influence the electorate in directions that favor their bottom line. If there was a way, their “news” programs would be produced in Communist China where laws would allow them to create a State News Network on Channel 1984.

The dumbing down of the news absorbing public played a major role in electing Donald Trump as President and would be dictator. Trump would be guaranteed a second term and more of he was not Trump as people are first realizing exactly who he has always been and it is scaring even Republicans. Only those who worship him as a golden calf remain loyal followers and would willingly offer up their virginal daughters as sacrificial lambs to their new “savior.” How soon they forget Trump’s alleged former relationship with Jeffrey Epstein and misogyny.

But I digress. Today we are in the throws of a terrible pandemic made more dangerous by our current government and the media. I keep hearing we have no idea of what might be around the corner and a vaccine could be developed tomorrow or the virus will miraculously disappear. Really? Is it so hard for you to fact check the second wave of the 1918 Spanish Flu pandemic which reportedly killed 20-50 million people on top of the 3-5 million killed by the first wave? Or the Bubonic Plague showing up recently in China? I hope it is not the case, but global warming could continue to challenge our medical community by releasing diseases from eons ago and unknown heretofore by humans. It will be a challenge that will require therapeutics and cures developed for humanity jointly by our government and scientific community funded by our taxes but not for profit. 

Remember, although not all COVID infections seem as serious, we have no idea what the long term effects on our children’s lungs will be, nor the rest of their bodies. One report I read is that COVID permanently scars the lung tissue and only time will tell what that means. Why so many are willingly to play Russian Roulette with COVID is beyond my comprehension and baffles my mind. How can people be so cavalier about the health of their children and still claim to love and care about them?

Both Trump and Biden have both made it clear that cooperation between our government and scientific communities will not happen under their watch, favoring the profits of the corporate Pharmaceutical, medical and insurance industries. Under either candidate, I believe only the rich shall survive in the future, which admittedly does not include me. This didn’t have to be so. We could have already passed Medicare For All, taken the profit motive out of our healthcare system and all residents of our country could be protected, COVID-19 handled like we did polio and leading the world like we once did in the past when we were a great country. Parents could have then gone back to planning their children’s future rather than enduring the stress of worrying that their kids future might be similar to what we recently learned about the final 95 days of Nick Cordero.

Instead, the Democrats, Republicans, along with the corporate media and closet racists conspired to defeat Senator Bernard Sanders. Personal greed favored over the good of the many. Even some of Bernie’s ardent supporters have sold out in favor of six digit salaries from the Biden campaign. 

I have previously discussed the alleged conspiracy against the American people by the Clintons, the DNC, left leaning Republicans (“centrist” Democrats), Evangelical Mammonites, White Christian terrorists, corporate America and the news media. What triggered this rant today was watching a video created by the great and talented Matt Orfalea who, in a mere 5 minutes, parades the alleged hypocrisy, prejudice and racism of our corporate media and hired gun commentators intent on destroying the people’s choice in favor of bringing medieval type caste systems favored by the colonial British in India into American government. What especially caught my eye was how many of these disgusting hypocrites spoke out to impress MSNBC’s Comcast patriarchs. Terms like endogamy, patrimony and exogamy could return to our daily diatribe.

In closing, to be fair, I have not found the cast of MSNBC’s Morning Joe, nor Lawrence O’Donnell and Chris Hayes, to be as hypocritical as the rest of that networks lineup. That is my opinion based solely on my observations and memory. I do not ask you to agree. I merely request and demand you be respectful of my right to my opinion as I am of yours.
