THOUGHT FOR TODAY

Here’s a thought for today: How about finding a news source that is interested in “…reporting the truth to get money out of politics and calling out mainstream media “ by empowering “people to demand positive change

for all, not just the wealthy few.

• Accountable government working for the people

• Equal opportunity and access to education

• Equal and affordable access to healthcare

• Equal justice

• Healthier planet and people

. Personal freedom of choice

• Policy and people over profit”

Are these things we can all agree on? Learn about the candidates before Election Day and vote for the ones who support these issues. Don’t let them fool you by telling you these are red or blue issues, that these are left or right issues. Instead, tell the politicians that these are human issues, the rights of a free people, and it is past time that you were treated as a human and not like sheep.

However, we have a big problem. We are not one of the most literate countries in the world. About half of Americans read at a 7th-8th grade level or lower. You are reading this so you are obviously in the literate half. The problem is that their vote counts just as much as yours and they vote from emotion and bigotry rather than knowledge about the issues and positions on those issues by the candidates.

If you are expecting to read about an answer here, you are going to be disappointed. I have no solution, just wanted to bring up the problem. I am counting on our younger generations, our “utes,” to solve this problem because my generation, the baby boomers, have done nothing but spend years at failure. We talked big, but accomplished nothing. Yeah, I’m talkin’ ‘bout you!

Literacy in the U.S.

Half of U.S. adults can’t read a book written at the 8th-grade level.

Citizens! I say CITIZENS! We have a problem rat cheer in ‘Murica!

The US has more citizens who are illiterate - some 16 million people - than many of its developed counterparts. Why is that?

Many complain that the system fails those who need extra help and there is a big disparity between rich and poor areas. Being illiterate prevents people from getting jobs. But it is

not only that.

Peggy Fleming, who lives in Kentucky (think Mitch McConnell and Rand Paul), one of the worst-performing states, said she wanted to set an example for her children by being able to read and write. "I wanted to be a better mum," she says.

Herschel Walker Why?

“MTG”…Did that come from people trying to compare Marjorie Taylor Greene with AOC? That is like comparing Alley Oop to Lady Madonna.
